Daniel has created a wonderful outside area to enjoy with friends, as he cooks amazing barbecues, chats about life and soaks in the hot tub. All very idyllic! His raised flower beds from new railway sleepers help to enhance this leisurely paradise, creating a more intimate and separate hideaway from the rest of the garden.

Thanks to Tracy for the excellent photos of her recently created walls and raised beds that she's imaginatively built with new railway sleepers. Such a beautiful garden that flows from level to level with gorgeous planting and luscious backdrops. A wonderful place to sit, be inspired and marvel at the spectacular globes of the gigantic purple Alium.

All credit to Worthington Landscape Design. Another brilliant project creating a superb garden with a multitude of enjoyable areas that will be a real delight to both frogs and gardeners alike! I like the imaginative way in which the new oak railway sleepers sit on top of a layer of attractive reclaimed bricks to form beautiful raised planters. A very original way of presenting raised beds. All in all, a fabulous garden.

Brilliant photos. There are many unbelievable factors to this stunning table. Firstly, how did Martyn finally move it into position?! The overall weight of one to two tons is jawdropping, and it must be virtually impossible to shift without a team of olympic weightlifters! Many people struggle to lift ONE tropical hardwood railway sleeper, let alone nine! Secondly, the cutting into a circle of such tough tight grained timber is not to be undertaken by the faint hearted. Not to mention the sanding and oiling. No wonder one of his pictures shows his son flat out on the railway sleepers. Either exhausted or a child sacrifice! All in all a massive and impressive undertaking that will comfortably sit 8 people for eternity. Indeed in 500 years, they'll probably construct a futuristic house around it, as they scratch their heads and marvel at the skills (or lunacy) of the early 21st century, whilst singing ballads about the 'Muckle Teeble of Dumfries'!

What a beautiful setting for John's project. Reclaimed railway sleepers are such versatile natural materials, and it's great to see them used as a rugged woodland footbridge. Simple, solid and rustic - a perfect weathered material to blend seamlessly with the trees.

Goats, bottomless holes and railway sleepers! Ed and Ted were out walking in the woods one afternoon when they came across a large hole. Peering in they realised that they could not see the bottom. "I wonder how deep it is?" Ed said.
Ted said: "Drop a stone in and count the seconds before it hits the bottom - that'll be how many feet deep it is." So they look around for a suitable stone and drop it into the hole. Nothing happened. There was no sound at all. Ted said: "Try something bigger."

One thing you're sure of when you have such a gorgeous sloping garden is that you've got to be pretty fit to take on all those flights of stairs! Azobe tropical hardwood railway sleepers are a great choice for all these steps as they are so durable. Yes, they are heavy and tough to cut, but when they are finally installed they last for decades, and blend amazingly amongst all the plants and trees. Solid, beautifully weathered and a constant invitation to explore the different delights of your garden.
