OLD RAILWAY SLEEPER STEPS AT WELLS-NEXT-THE-SEA

Perched on the sand dunes at Wells-next-the-Sea there is a flight of old railway sleeper steps that lead up to the National Coastwatch building that keeps an eye on swimmers and boats. Wells-next-the-Sea is one of the prettiest villages on the Norfolk Coast, with sweeping beaches, pine woods, and a bustling gorgeous harbour with small fishing boats and children with buckets fishing for crabs. The railway sleeper steps that are bleached by the sun and eroded by coastal wind and sand, blend perfectly into the rolling sand dunes.  Like Wells itself, there is something natural and charmingly unspoilt about weathered reclaimed railway sleepers.
