RAILWAY SLEEPER TABLES AT THE OLD VOLUNTEER, CAYTHORPE.

Railway sleepers are great for creating heavy, chunky & long-lasting furniture that will withstand the excitements of over enthusiastic drinkers & celebrations. The Old Volunteer's tables & benches are perfect examples of solid creations that will equally resist both inclement weather & energetic customers. The 'Old Vol' as it is affectionately known is a charming gastropub located in the picturesque village of Caythorpe, Nottinghamshire. Surrounded by glorious countryside, it is perfect for a post-walk meal, a retreat from the buzz of the city or a catch up with friends & family, as you dance on top of the tables!

100% PURE AUSTRALIAN RAILWAY SLEEPERS!

ORIGINAL 100% PURE AUSTRALIAN!
Here in the UK we are increasingly using old tropical hardwood railway sleepers for imaginative gardening and landscaping. They were originally imported as new timbers from Australia and laid on our railway tracks about 40 or 50 years ago. However we can now see the original Australian examples in New South Wales of rugged landscaping formed with their own Jarrah railway sleepers brimming full of wonderful character and rustic weathering. Spot the original signs and notices!!

EYE CATCHING RAILWAY SLEEPER GARDEN GATE

EYE CATCHING RAILWAY SLEEPER GARDEN GATE

We love the look that Amy & Ben have created. The contrast between the rugged multi coloured weathering of the chunky reclaimed hardwood railway sleepers and the clean golden lines of the new arched gate is wonderful. They had leftover a lot of off-cuts of reclaimed hardwood railway sleepers which they had used to build a retaining wall and wanted to fill either side of the garden gate with an alternative to traditional panels of fencing. An eye catching creation!

IMPRESSIVE RAILWAY SLEEPER LANDSCAPING

What a simple yet impressive design, and a beautiful example of used tropical hardwood railway sleepers being used to create a garden wall, gate posts and raised beds. The natural bleached effect blends effortlessly with the grass and planting, and frames the stunning view beyond. A great example of railway sleeper landscaping.
