Railway sleeper walls surround Wells-next-the-Sea's new lifeboat station

The RNLI is building a new lifeboat station at Wells ready for a new Shannon-class lifeboat. The new boathouse has taken about 18 months to complete and is almost finished. The new boat will be named 'Duke of Edinburgh' and is expected to arrive in Wells later in the year.

Supporting the sandy slopes around this amazing new lifeboat station you will find terraces built with new railway sleepers, that create both a barrier against the sea as well as a planting habitat for marram and beach grass.
