Roger's retaining walls & steps with Jarrah railway sleepers

Just to let you know the sleepers were delivered on Friday. A bit too heavy for the fork lift, but the driver was very helpful and helped me, split the packs to unload. So as you see they are safe in my unit at the moment,  I have made a simple buggy to move the railway sleepers to the back of my house, which makes light work of it, even my wife can wheel it !!

Just to let you know the sleepers you supplied are being put to good use. The wall will be x5 high 25 inches, the soil behind is very solid heavy clay, we have set each sleeper on a concrete pad at each end and driven a 25mm steel through the sleeper and into the pad. I am planning to back fill with pea gravel and fill underneath the middle of the sleepers, then carry any water away with a flexible land drain pipe.

I have and will keep taking plenty of pictures and you can choose any you may think useful for your site.

Cheers, Roger Kerrison

Brilliant seeing the photos of your garden so far, and would welcome more so that we can see how your great landscaping project finally turned out. It's certainly ambitious, and will have taken a lot of hard work, drilling & cutting, despite your ingenious sleeper carrying buggy, that no doubt you will patent! I love the angled retaining walls, so beautifully cut, and the original fan shaped light of steps.
