Turkish retaining walls with old sleepers

Adakoy is an peaceful island that overlooks the frantic Turkish coastal resort of Marmaris. Next to the sandy beaches there are lots of retaining walls made from stacked reclaimed railway sleepers. They generally seem to be held together with bent metal staples or steel bars, rather than Timberlok type bolts.

Not the most pretty of retaining walls, but great functional and practical use of reclaimed railway sleepers, in the most beautiful of settings.
