Mount Cook (Aoraki) is the highest mountain in New Zealand at 3,724 metres. A massive achievement is that the National Park installed 2200 railway sleeper steps on the steep beginning of the hike to the Mueller Glacier Hut, one of the most beautiful one day walks in New Zealand. Due to the steep slope it's not a walk for the faint-hearted, but the rewards are astonishing, with incredible views throughout the climb.
