A few photos attached showing use of railway sleepers for sluice construction. We are putting the sluices in around a field to raise the water level to encourage wading birds as part of a wildlife scheme. The aim is not to flood the field, only to raise the water table to within 18 inches of the surface to make it easier for the birds to probe for food. I have more photos and will probably take another lot when we put the next one in but these should give you an idea to put on your website. The railway sleepers seem ideal for the job - the only thing we had to do, apart from drill some holes to take the tie bars was to seal the existing holes with mastic to avoid leaks, although they would probably seal with trash/dirt anyway. If you need a description of the installation to include with the photos, please let me know. I am quite happy for any of your customers to phone me if they are doing a similar project and want to know more.
Kind Regards
Stephen Woodhouse
