TEN YEARS IN THE PLANNING! RAILWAY SLEEPER TRANSFORMATION OF OLD POND

Bob & Margaret finally increased their old pond from 350 to 1200 gallons. Sometimes the best of plans are conceived gradually over years of thought, sketches and dreams! A wonderful transformation of their original pond, using new railway sleepers.

A MINI MASTERPIECE!

A MINI MASTERPIECE!

Every now and again you see a project that lifts the spirits. Such an exciting and impressive creation that is beautifully crafted and wonderfully original. Using old tropical hardwood railway sleepers as building blocks is both effective and remarkably attractive, and bedding the individual railway sleeper pieces on mortar frames each weathered timber piece beautifully. A mini masterpiece.

Heartless theft of railway sleeper bench

Heartless thieves have stolen a railway sleeper memorial bench from New Hall Valley Country Park in Sutton Coldfield. The railway sleeper bench was in memory of Chris's husband who died last year.  She said "These people are without morals, without respect and have no idea the hurt and upset their actions have caused to me and my family. That bench means nothing to anyone else but it meant the world to me."

West Midlands Police stated that the railway sleeper bench was stolen from New Hall Valley Country Park sometime between Thursday, May 24 and Monday, May 28.

BEAUTIFUL RAISED BED DESIGN

A beautiful classical design for a set of railway sleeper raised beds at different heights and shapes. Clearly, a lot of hard work was involved, not to mention the cutting of all the railway sleepers. Very impressive, and with a gorgeous glasshouse to top it off!

BANK HOLIDAY IN LEICESTERSHIRE

A BEAUTIFUL sunny May bank holiday weekend provided perfect weather to discover these open garden gems of railway sleeper landscaping in the gorgeous villages around Bradgate park in Leicestershire. One of the wonderful attractions of reclaimed railway sleepers is that they blend so perfectly within the gardens of ancient villages. The weather beaten imperfections of old railway sleepers match the wrinkles of worn stone and thatched roofs, in a timeless marriage.

RAILWAY SLEEPERS FOR RUBIE - AND A BEAUTIFUL SMILE!

Charlotte Batterham runs a local charity group on facebook called cbb bidding bargain page. She organised a DIY garden build for a little girl called Rubie who has muscular dystrophy and wrote to us to ask for some help, in particular some new pine Railway sleepers to finish of the garden so that Rubie could go about the new garden safely as she is unable to walk. This would offer her a safe place to roll around or use her wheelchair on. What a wonderful project! We were more than happy to help, and wish her great fun in her new garden.

SOLAR RAILWAY SLEEPERS!

SOLAR RAILWAY SLEEPERS!

It's great to see railway sleepers supporting environmentally friendly projects. Solar panels, whether roof or garden based are clearly part of our green future. Of course, understandably, some people may feel that it is a shame that pretty grassy areas and cottage roofs are covered with shiny glass panels. However others will argue that the long term global picture and environmental benefits of alternative energy outweigh such aesthetic concerns.

DRAMATIC WALL FROM OLD WEATHERED OAK RAILWAY SLEEPERS SLOTTED INTO STEEL RSJ'S

DRAMATIC WALL FROM OLD WEATHERED OAK RAILWAY SLEEPERS SLOTTED INTO STEEL RSJ'S

A really impressive project that brilliantly contrasts the weathered imperfections of old sturdy oak railway sleepers, and the sleek modern lines of black steel industral beams, that together both enclose and support a very contemporary and original building. Very eye catching.
