I have converted a natural pond to a clay lined pond. Used railway sleepers were used to make the retaining walls and trenches were formed with the railway sleepers standing 1.2m in the ground. The clay from the trenches was re-used to puddle and create the margins and shelves with a filter box being also created at one end with what will be a natural reed filter. The site was a former clay pit back in the late 1800's prior to development.
Anyhow, I thought you might like to see the finished product along with the progress pictures. I'm sure it will mature well encouraging countless hours of time wasting once stocked! The construction of this project bordered on civil engineering with a sense of humour!
