IMPRESSIVE RAILWAY SLEEPER LANDSCAPING

01 June 2019 / Posted in: Railway Sleeper News

IMPRESSIVE RAILWAY SLEEPER LANDSCAPING

What a simple yet impressive design, and a beautiful example of used tropical hardwood railway sleepers being used to create a garden wall, gate posts and raised beds. The natural bleached effect blends effortlessly with the grass and planting, and frames the stunning view beyond. A great example of railway sleeper landscaping.

Zachary's new oak railway sleeper landscaping

It's wonderful to see the finished pictures of the landscaping he has created with the new oak railway sleepers, especially now that they have started to weather to a lovely silver grey colour. A warm and relaxing design that doesn't upstage the planting!

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF ICE-CREAM IN A RAILWAY SLEEPER PROJECT!

Many thanks to Paul for his photos of his impressive railway sleeper project, that is a credit to his design, precision and hard graft. The outstanding effort he has put in to dig out and prepare the footings and move and cut 2 tons of railway sleepers, in a very compact, sloping site is really praise worthy. The end product is imaginative and beautifully transforms the garden.

Jane's Railway Sleeper Raised Veg Bed

Jane's Railway Sleeper Raised Veg Bed

Once Jane had worked out the position of the raised bed (moving a prickly pyracantha!) everything went smoothly.  After starting with a lack lustre drill, she eventually organised a powerful one (thanks to her friend Karen) and the timberlok sleeper screws shot through the railway sleepers perfectly. The onions, spinach, strawberries, lettuce and runner beans are now all growing, and hopefully promising a bumper crop. It makes good use of what was a wasted space.  http://www.railwaysleepers.com/projects/raised-beds-with-railway-sleepers/janes-raised-vegetable-bed-with-new-pine-railway-sleepers

SARAH's PAINFUL LABOUR OF LOVE with RAILWAY SLEEPERS

Thanks to Sarah for her amusing commentary (well worth reading) and her wonderful photos of her railway sleeper raised bed project. It seems an all too familiar story that many of our most memorable achievements and crazy adventures are those which we would never wish to repeat! Thankfully, long after her bruises, aches and marital disharmony have subsided, her beautiful garden oasis is a stunning reminder of her landscaping heroics!

CHUNKY RAILWAY SLEEPER HI-FI TABLE

CHUNKY RAILWAY SLEEPER HI-FI TABLE

Graham and Deb sent us photos of their striking low level table made from new railway sleepers. It looks really solid and chunky, and is a really attractive long lasting piece of furniture. They even saved several hundred pounds by making it themselves! Mind you, they would probably need a weekend away just to recover from carrying it into the house!
