It's almost miraculous that a weathered piece of 50 year old railway sleeper can be transformed from a battered chunk of wood into a smooth rounded bowl. A magical change that leaves one open mouthed!

The eye-catching contrast between using old, irregular oak railway sleepers to build a more uniform and precise raised bed structure is really unique. Reclaimed from a Belgium Metro line, each aged railway sleeper is full of weathered character and unpredictable appeal.

It can be hard to know how to use the narrow space between your house and your next door neighbour. Sometimes it ends up being a chaotic space of bins, ladders and unused bikes, somewhat similar to the infamous cupboard under the stairs. So all credit to Pete for using new railway sleepers to landscape this confined area and create a stylish and functional planting bed.

There is something solid and substantial about using reclaimed Dutch oak railway sleepers. A feeling that if you were return to this garden in 50 years, you would still find these wonderful Dutch oak railway sleepers proudly holding their own, unlike the fence which will have been replaced many times over, and the owners long since moved. Another impressive long-lasting project by Justin.
