A BOWL MAGICALLY EMERGES FROM AN OLD CHUNK OF RAILWAY SLEEPER
A few weeks ago I purchased a pack of tropical hardwood railway sleepers from you. I have attached some photos that you may be interested to see - I am sure that you have frequently seen raised garden beds but you may recall that you told me that a particular customer had turned a bowl. I was not sure my lathe would take the weight but it did. The outcome is attached - it took a few sittings to get it hollowed out. It was HARD! I posted it on a facebook group and enthusiasts tell me it was Ekki (Azobe).

It's almost miraculous that a weathered piece of 50 year old railway sleeper can be transformed from a battered chunk of wood into a smooth rounded bowl. A magical change that leaves one open mouthed!
